Wikidot has everything we need to allow our site to pass Google's mobile friendly test. Unfortunately, mobile-friendly themes have been slow to get rolling here. It's definitely tough to retrofit existing sites with new styles, but it can be done with proper media queries and meta tags.
We should be able to handle the "conversion" without the need for Wikidot to do device detection. We can target different screen sizes with media queries with our current CSS code. We have everything we need to do responsive design (as described here) that will pass the Google test.
Maybe I'm not understand your wish. If I missed the mark, can you explain a bit more how you envision this would work?

Yes definitely aware of media queries, I just don't like repetitiveness. It would definitely be great if they could add it for people like me who are particular about their CSS. Especially with all the code I have on my site it would be easier to handle is what I'm saying. Thank you for the reply and hopefully this is something they can look into.
Edit: I'm in the process of redesigning IconDeposit (Shhhh ;) ) which is why I'm asking for this wish. Completely mobile friendly.

I've tried to mess around with media queries for my existing sites and I got nowhere…no results. As a non-tech user, it must be simply beyond me. I messed around with a bootstrap site based on the new bootstrap theme, but the site is extremely slow and clunky, and there is nothing I can do on my end to speed it up. If there is not a simpler solution forthcoming, I don't know what to do at all, and I hope this does not affect my sites all that much. Maybe I should just redirect all my pages to a new mobile-friendly wordpress site and be done with all the aggravation. I don't want to be a web design guru, but if I'm not one, I don't think that there really are any solutions here.
The Viewport Meta tag helps a bit. At the bottom of your home page go to edit options meta
then add viewport and you can play with the settings a bit. The most commonly used one is width=device-width, initial-scale=1
I've had to tinker with mine a bit (still am) but it seems to work ok.
