While I support the wish in relation to images already uploaded to standard Wikidot pages, random images are very easy to do if you use a combination data forms and the listpages module. The method and results can be seen at my page at http://vineyard.wikidot.com/random-images

Yes there are several jquery codes that will allow you to display a slideshow of images inside an html block. The one I have used generally is the Nivo one and I used it as the header on the previous site fro my village here. You can also see the the code and results at http://vineyard.wikidot.com/slideshow:nivo and the starting image has been set to random from the images specified in the html.
