My pro-lite account will expire in December, and I'm not planning to renew it, precisely because the Educational upgrades make more sense for me: as I explained a while back, having more than 10 private users is much more important to me than having the extra storage, since we mostly use text in my classes anyway.
I am strongly in favor of making the per-site educational upgrade available to pro users. If Wikidot is worried that non-educational professionals will abuse this system, they can spot-check as they presumably already do. I suspect there would be far more legitimate uses than inappropriate ones, because Wikidot is excellent for teaching and learning.
In the meantime, I'm more or less forced to give up my Pro account, because it's limiting my options — and preventing me from sharing my existing sites with potential new Wikidot teacher-users.
In the past, if the user upgraded its account, every site changed its status as well. Now, if the user have Edu site and will upgrade an account, every site will upgrade, but Edu sites will remain Edu. Users , who had Edu sites and upgraded to Pro accounts may send us an e-mail at moc.todikiw|troppus#moc.todikiw|troppus and request for a status change from Pro to Edu or from Pro to Edu on particular site.
Fine!
Thanks for this important change!

Could be a good idea to copy the last paragraph to the Educational Documentation/feature page..

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll add an info.
Thank you, Squark! This makes much more sense. I'll be contacting the support line about my old sites.
