Censoring…. as in removing them completely?
Or to remove images from signatures?

@leiger, I did not mean the hard way (CSS) but the soft way.
For example, I would like to ban a user's signature on a given site, just because of the displayed philosophy.
On the contrary, if another site talks about philosphy, it would be welcome (not banned).
I don't like the idea of banning signatures. It is completely a bad idea.
Why should the verse in my sig be banned? It shouldn't.
what made you think anyone was referring to your sig?.
Feeling Guilty?
Some might find your sig offensive.
Its all a matter of perspective.
A site admin banning specific users' signatures is possibly censorship and definitely unfriendly.
I'd pay for an option (if I was not CEO of this party) to either hide all, or selected signatures.
Difference is that I can decide what I do not want to see, but not what I want others not to see.

If you want to pay not to see my sig, then that is fine. But a sig is a display of personal interest. It is a customizable way to share what you care about. The problem is when people have the ability to ban your sig, then they have rights to do other things like changing your picture. Afterall, what if it's offensive? Okay, so remove the picture for certain people. What if I don't like someone's username, so I change it? What's the point of having your own sig if someone else can change it?
No need to pay with Stylish addons for Firefox.
With this, no signature visible by me on blog.wikidot.com
What is the ! Part of it?
the !important tells the browser to override any of the same element that comes after it.
so if you have
body{
color: #000;
}
body{
color: #fff !important;
}
body{
color: #eee;
}
the one with the !important is always going to be applied.
I suppose that means you can overide “color: #fff” if you place !important in the “color: #eee” then?

Yes, the cascade rules mean that by using !Important you can override any previous rule for that element. This has to be used carefully though because if you use it too much it can make managing your CSS rather complex.

Some sigs are enormous (like mine…), another reason to censor them since they take up so much room on some forums.

I've said previously my opinion on this. If you want to ban philosophical signatures — then ban business signatures as well. Interpreted very loosely, they can be considered to be the same thing.

I disagree: discussion is the basis of understanding.
All signatures by definition communicate something. They are all a form of micro advertising and are all noise that the reader has to ignore while following the thread.
However, there are definitely different types of noise:
Having said all this, the only kind I would ban are links to external sites, and we may impose that. For the rest I think every individual needs to understand that the more they impose on others, the less they will be respected. The signature in fact says a lot about one's character.
