I'd like to see two (2) new div and/or span elements surrounding the following in the forum system:
- Username only
- The whole post (including username, timestamp, content, history of edits, etc.)
The most important thing, however, is that the class name of these elements should include something unique about the user. That could be either the user's unix name or their ID number.
Result: The ability to use CSS to highlight posts by certain users, or to highlight the username of certain users but leave the actual post untouched.
Note: This kind of thing is already possible using a page-based forum (e.g. "NoComment forum") … this wish is asking for a way to do the same thing using the built-in forum. And all that is needed to implement the wish are a few CSS classes.
Use cases:
In the community, this would allow us to add an icon next to an administrator's or regular contributor's username. Using CSS, an additional icon can be displayed alongside the karma, avatar and pro star for certain users. At the moment it's only possible to do it for all users at once.
On other sites, where page contributions are more important, a CSS module could be used in a live template to do something similar. Theoretically it'd be possible to highlight the %%created_by%% user's posts in a different way to everyone else. Therefore, their posts would stand out more on their own page.
