The Problem
With Site Branding, a profile page is created for each member with the syntax: CATEGORY:### (where ### represent's the user's unchangeable Wikidot ID number).
However when you go to customise this category via the Live Template, there is no way to use the %%name%% variable to show content relating to the user.
For Example
My Wikidot ID is 35113. So when I try to use the [[*user ALIAS]] syntax, it fails:
35113 does not match any existing user name
Nor will this work for the ListPages module when trying to sort through pages created by certain users:
[[module ListPages created_by="35113"]]
The Proposal (The Wish)
I wish we could precede a Wikidot ID with a token so that the Wikidot engine will interpret the user by ID rather than UNIX name. Here are some ideas of a preceding symbol that would generate James Kanjo:
- [[*user _35113]]
- [[*user #35113]]
- [[*user ID:35113]]
My favourite is the third one, as the colon : character is prohibited in Wikidot user names.
The Bonus (!)
Using an ID based system would mean that even if a user changed his/her username, the links to that user would remain unbroken!
YES. This would be the best!

If site branding was enabled from the beginning of the site, %%created_by%% will give you the username.

@bcammo could you explain what exactly you do to create this tripple post ?

After clicking 'Post it', the 'posting now…' dialog stayed up for ~1 min, then I got an Ajax request failed message (I think the code was 502) - the page didn't refresh, so I figured it hadn't saved the comment. I tried again (and again) and got the same error. I was on my iPad if it makes a difference.

If it means anything, I had the same issue, but I only repeated once. Someone must have already deleted the double post.
That didn't happen for this post though.

This error is not isolated to iPad. It also occurred with me in Safari on Mac on the community website. The Javascript seems to load forever before failing with an AJAX error. Then I click "Post it" again, to have the same thing. Then I refresh the page (in case the downloaded .JS file was corrupted) and wha-lah, there's a double post.
