for what?
or better- where do you want to insert it?
on postings your "user-id" ius shown at the posting title with the date.
.
on single pages it depends on the live "_template" of the site admin - if your user-id ( as the author) and the "updated-at" is displayed ( at the top or bottom)
Have a look on our blog on the comminuty: http://community.wikidot.com/blog:_start there you will see at any blog-entry the inserted author and date..
If you really want to insert it manually at a specific point in a single statements - ok … this is than like the 4 tildes ( ~~~~) in wikipedia, - exchanged with the user-id and time /date.
B ut I can remember - such a wish was discussewd some years ago.

I wanted to bring this functionality to my wikidot wiki, being more place-economic than fora.
The four tildes are an essential tool in mediawiki and they are available in other wiki syntaxis too. should not be too difficult to have a "signature button"!
We use this a lot in wikis.
I have requested this before, and it most likely has more votes (as it has been around longer).
I'll try to find the link.
