Of all of the wonderful things Wikidot offers, it lacks one very fundamental capability: file management.
Currently, files can be uploaded to individual pages. From that page, a file can be moved, renamed or deleted. In the site manager, we can find how much room we have left on the site.
Well, I believe that's about it.
Currently, we have no way to…
- Search for files
- List files of other pages with a module
- Manage files from the site manager
Simply put, it is currently very hard to manage files. This makes it frustrating to find and delete old files or use advanced coding in displaying a gallery of pictures associated with pages, or other useful aspects beyond my own imagination. It would make Wikidot that much more awesome if we had as much control over files as we did with pages.
And if this wish is to be rejected, it would be great if you explained why, rather than simply rejecting without justification, so that we may understand why something like this might not be achievable (see this wish and that wish).

I second that motion. This site would be cool if it wasn't for the average file manager. It's hard to delete or move files other than one at a time click and confirm
BUMP.
The ability to easily identify large files on any page so that it can be removed or replaced is paramount.
Have a look at the Chrome and Firefox extension add-on written by
tsangk which really improves the file manager plus a lot more.

To the suggestions already made in previous reviews, I add the following:
Change several or all file names in bulk
Change names of files without the need to apply the extension name
Possibility of reverse alphabetical order
Sort files by other criteria, such as size

I am currently working on a file manager for Wikimated. At the moment it is extremely useful for finding which pages have files attached, or where a specific file is located (Ctrl+F for filename after generating the list).
Viewing detailed information about files, and uploading new ones to a page, is currently under investigation.
Still in development, but most likely available within the week:If you would like to be notified once this is available, register an account on Wikimated. We'll contact you when the feature is live!

Is this still in development or is it dead?
