This would be a great tool, I'd use it for sure.
Omnia mutantur, nihil interit.
This looks great, I would definitely use this on my wiki.
We're planning to introduce tweeting and facebook publishing in the nearest future together with the super dooper UI changes, so I mark this as Accepted.
This can already be done with twitterfeed and an RSS feed showing any updates on your site. So if anyone here is wanting to get this working before Wikidot implements it… it is possible, quite easily.

We're implementing this. First version of this feature will have almost no configuration, you'll just need to allow the application to update status for given Twitter account and all pages updates will be posted to Twitter.

Will this work with multiple Twitter accounts? Will it allow you to filter what you report? I currently use Twitterfeed and RSS feeds to send updates on one of my sites to multiple Twitter accounts. If the answer to either question is "no," I won't be able to use it to accomplish what I do now with Twitterfeed.

No, one site updates will be published as maximum one Twitter account status updates. At first no filtering will be available. Later, we could introduces a set of checkboxes for deciding of what events (from page edits, page creations, file events, posts added, …) to publish to Twitter and which to not.
We don't aim to substitute any working solution, just making a simple one to suit the most common use case. We may point the Twitterfeed solution in the interface for more-demanding users.

I think the most common need will be to tweet page creations only (and perhaps comments) from a single category. E.g. a news or blog category.

I agree. I don't think most common use cases would include a desire to tweet every page edit. I don't think leiger would have wanted all of his recent page edits on editor.wikidot.com to be sent to the Twittersphere.

Please test the new functionality. It's now limited to posting updates for new pages from all categories.

I just tested it and it works well - nice job with the wikidot URL shortener too!
For future improvements, it would be good if…
Oh, and what does it do with private categories?
BMC Creative | RoaringApps | @brycecammo
Page creations in private categories are posted as well.
We also thought the two features you listed would be the most useful now :-). We'll come back to this as soon as some feedback on the app is gathered.
