This restriction is set due to errors that we were experiencing. Imagine a situation that (even if it's your own site), you want to clone e.g. 10,000 pages site. It would literally kill our servers. We can't and we won't do anything about that.
Thanks for the explanation for why you are rejecting this.
However, is it possible to raise the limit for the MA, or is 100 as high as it can go? Even just 500 pages would allow a greater number of sites to be cloned.
(500 is 1/20th the size of your theoretical example of 10,000)

With the new Save command in the API, shouldn't it already be possible for us to clone sites via a program?
In this way, it shares the load of processes between the client and server (as opposed to the entirety been done via server).
Shhh that was my backup plan! :)

What would be nice is the ability to neglect certain categories when cloning a site. For example, using a wiki-based chatroom, you will have thousands of pages created in the chat category. You may have only 50 other pages in the wiki. Cloning the site whilst excluding the chat category would make it possible to clone sites that exceed the 100 pages limit from a specific category.
Can be done using a program that accesses the API, as you mentioned above.
I'll start pumping out apps soon. For now I'm adding API access to STE so that it's a true Wikidot tool.

A 500 page limit would make a lot of difference for me too - with the new cloud platform, the servers should not be the problem anymore, isn't it?
