Support for the following services would be great (even if it's just one or two of them):
I have been using these services recently on other websites. This would be a great feature to offer anonymous users of wikidot.
I'm thinking that if someone is about to post anonymously, a pop-up should appear offering them the chance to quickly register a Wikidot.com account without leaving the current page, using one of these services.
How? It would automate some of the sign-up process, by pulling in the username, email address, avatar, and other information from the account they are linking.
They'd only be asked to create a Wikidot.com password, but that's it! It would never have to confirm their email address as it has already been done by the other website service. If the username they use on e.g. Twitter is taken here at wikidot, they'd also have to enter an alternative username.
It'd be a way of allowing people to create new accounts at Wikidot, faster.
YES, all I can say. Actually it is a bit longer-term goal, but at least getting Twitter and Facebook would help a lot — Twitter and Facebook together should cover most of our potential users. OpenID is still not mainstream, I will need to look at DISQUS and Gmail.
Another benefit of authenticating with Twitter of Facebook is that we could export user activities. Eg. someone posts a comment — why not to suggest a way to share it?

And another thing, when you add support for these services, adding the ability to check if anyone in e.g. your Gmail contact list, is a user of Wikidot — that would be great ;-) I'm sure one or two people I know are using Wikidot and I didn't even realise.
With such a feature comes the need to let users block others from finding them using their email address though, for privacy reasons.

I've just had a closer look at DISQUS, and got it working at wikidot just using the HTML tags.
http://community.wikidot.com/sandbox:disqus-test
Of course, that isn't integrated into Wikidot itself, and those comments aren't pages, nor can they be shown using any Wikidot modules…… and this wish doesn't even ask for any integration with the comment system anyway.
I think DISQUS can be forgotten, but Facebook, Twitter, and hopefully Gmail login support would be great.

Disqus does work just using HTML tags but if you use it extensively it gets buggy and I'm wondering if some of this would be solved by actually supporting it. Having things in separate iframes sometimes seems to work but introduces problems which, over hundreds of modules becomes a big problem. So I don't think disqus should be forgotten. I've used it a lot and it doesn't work that well the way it is. There are sizing issues, etc. I wish people would please stop saying that just because something works with the HTML tags it's good to go. Use it more extensively and then see.
I would say:
Other services are rather rare across Wikidot users (including potential commentators).

I know quite a few people that use Twitter but refuse to use Facebook. One of the more prominent ones is bcammo. Personally, I would prefer to sign in with my Twitter account as well, even though I have both Twitter and Facebook set up.
So I think that Twitter should be added to the list.
ALSO: Consider providing a way for other sites to let us log in using our Wikidot accounts? ;-) Wikidot isn't necessarily well known enough for people to try integrating it into their non-wikidot sites, but at least the functionality is there to encourage integration.

+1
Spam is a problem once a site gets high enough Google rankings, making anonymous content more burdensome for the administrator to allow. But forcing people to sign up for their 200th online account just to add one thing or leave a blog comment often means losing out on valuable content they could be generating and potential valuable readers and contributors.
Personally I refuse to sign up for new sites these days and have a fake facebook account for just that purpose, as facebook connect is a pretty popular alternate login. And I know a lot of people share my fatigue for new signups. If a site doesn't allow facebook connect or something similar, I move on unless it is very, VERY important to me. Having access to alternate logons would give wikidot communities a leg up, or at least an even playing field with other sites.
As for gravatar, honestly, I've never heard of it. Facebook, Google and Twitter, on the other hand, are global phenomena that everyone recognizes.
Is this still planned? Facebook and Google logins would cover most. Also, I would love a STEAM login. Please see http://steamcommunity.com/dev. This would allow millions of gamers (an important chunk of Wikidot's userbase) and 100% of my communities to easily access the site. Currently I am seeing very low signups because no one wants to register up for yet another site. Only the very most dedicated people do. I'm probably going to give up soon. Getting sites active is the most important thing. Wikidot needs to adapt or it will be left in the dust. I'm really frustrated.
note: Wetpaint allows facebook, twitter, and windows live logins.
Personally I'd also like to see Twitter integration available, in some form. Even if it's just posting as an anonymous user, with the avatar, name and profile link pulled automatically from Twitter.com

I never saw this wish and I dared not ask but I am happy that wikidot seems into it. I would be absolutely thrilled to see this happen. As some others are indicating it seems almost essential to integrate. I get a lot of activity on our facebook fan page that should be on the site and people simply don't want to be bothered to join. I think this should be a priority because more and more sites are integrating and we are being left behind. This would boost activity at my site a huge extent, I am sure. Facebook especially but I agree that you have to give Twitter some love as well.
Can we expect to see this wish accepted any time soon?
As something in the interim, I was looking at this: http://www.intensedebate.com/home
This is a comment system a bit like Disqus but it allows users to sign in via Facebook, Twitter, OpenID, and Gravatar profile, plus commenting without an account is allowable. I'm only mentioning this because I really want a way to start integrating facebook and twitter sooner rather than later to boost activity around my site. If this is a really silly idea or suggestion..forgive me! But would enabling this be something that could be a workaround until wikidot integrates other services?
Edit: Nevermind, I was confused. Disqus, already mentioned, allows those logins as well. I had thought they always required a disqus account.
Also Eric, if you want to use the Disqus commenting system in your site, you already can with some measure of success. About a year ago I was experimenting with it and got it working.
The main problem is with email notifications about new comments that reply to yours - they link to the HTML block, rather than the page that the HTML block is located on. I didn't look into this much further, so it's possible that if I were to look at it again I could solve that problem.
Obviously, the other downside is that you can't use your Wikidot account to comment.
If you would like to use Disqus comments like this, let me know (e.g. here or in a PM) and I'll look into it again to see if I can get it working correctly. Don't have time today to do it though.
Cheers,
Shane

Would Love to see a Facebook and Twitter option to connect to WIkidot, plus a Google login would be great too.
For me, having Facebook login connectivity is the most important new feature I could hope for on Wikidot, one that would allow me to invite the 6000+ members of my Social Media groups of Facebook etc, to Wikidot to be part of my forthcoming Wikidot site on the Global Music Industry which is well into development as a private site and will be a future public site on WIkidot.

This solution would allow us (the users) to complete this wish for Wikidot…
