A hundred stars seem a bit too much, maybe just ten.
true. however, it would still be somewhat useful if we could display the average of the scores in a x/100 format.
To me, just displaying results as a % would be better than a score out of 100. It's almost the same thing.
Personally I would never use this though. 5-star ratings are enough for me, or even just the current rating module will do :)

yup, a 5 star rating would be suitable for pretty anything I can imagine. The 100 idea was just from another site I saw (http://l4dmaps.com/) and it looked cool. not really important though.
I actually prefer 10 stars over just 5 stars because 5 stars is too big of intervals, that is, unless you have divided stars then 5 would be sufficient. The % based would be best in my opinion though.
That rating is added by the admins, and not contributed at all by the visitors, if I am not mistaken. Therefore this is possible with Wikidot already (just type it manually!)
% that voted positively would be better than just a + or - score, true

A 10 star system seems to be OK.
It would be nice to see the rating module take on some new customizeability. Doing so would advance the ability of wikidot to be a platform for social webapps. Different rating abilities would be needed for different types of tasks.
As far as "how many stars", why not just let the user decide instead of pushing it on them. stars="x".
There is a very detailed design for improvements to the Rate module on the projects forum. The Wikidot team rejected this design (closed it) due to "lack of conversation" though there was a long thread on the previous home (the old blog design wiki).
Squark, perhaps you should reopen that design sketch? See http://projects.wikidot.com/thread:319 and http://blog.wikidot.com/design:1/noredirect/true

I'd also like to see part of that Rate module design implemented.

I would very much like this feature. It would help our members quickly determine if a map is worth playing, and in return allow players to quickly rate maps.
Thanks,
Adam Reece.
Setable ranges maybe? So you can have negative to positive ranges?
Also: the ability to remove votes from people that were removed from the individual site.
thanks for adding this. is there any possibility the %%rating%% value could be updated without a page refresh?
