It's not completed. Private messaging does not take the place of emailing. I need access to be able to contact the members that I have attracted and earned.
This bugs me:
"Wikidot Newsletter
From time to time we send a newsletter that cover the most important changes in the Wikidot.com Services, sometimes promotional offers and other things that might be interesting for you. We certainly do not send anything that would be considered "spam". It is highly recommended to accept our Newsletter.
Receive Wikidot Newsletter?"
Probably 98% of the people who join my site would are confused by what wikidot is, versus what my site is. They would not know who was sending them an newsletter and why, if they were to receive one. They were attracted to my site and joined my site. It was my actions that earned those members. Yet, wikidot only is able to email them. I am not. This, to me, is not fair. I have had to work over-time to build a separate newsletter list. I have lots of inactive members and some of those would probably become more active, now and again, if I were able to send them an occasional email, should they opt-in to receive emails. As it stands, I have a site that I work hard to attract members to, and then wikidot takes "ownership" of those members. It should be me sharing the memberhip with wikidot, not the other way around. This has gotten under my skin more and more.
Great Idea!!
- Does it work already?
Before suggesting an improvement or uttering a wish, I was just searching and found THIS entry.
I actually wanted a TEMPLATE feature for emails (internal messaging) to be used for members and other repetitive messaging, like WELCOMING MESSAGES for new Members
Could this also perhaps also be implemented into this structure, somehow.
Perhaps with private as well as GLOBAL (within the website, and separately also for Admins and Moderators)
That would be great!!
Kind regards
Peter
