Request: A URL option that would return just the raw source of the page as text to the caller. This would work according to the privacy of the page. If a user can view the page, he can view the source with this link; if he cannot view the page, the server returns an appropriate message.
Yes, you can already get the page source via the pages.get_one method of the API. This is in addition to pages.get_one. Also, the pages.get_one method returns a JSON object full of additional data, which the consumer would have to parse. This feature would save some users from having to write API infrastructure for page source that is already available to the public. (A programmer can also reverse-engineer the Page Source button and get it that way without the API.)
This would make it easier for applications to use data from public wikis. For example, I'm developing an application for which I have a wiki set up as the official reference and documentation. Since the wiki is public, it would save me work if I could get certain information right from the wiki rather than duplicating it in the application or setting up the API infrastructure.
Wikidot has magic uri's, but apparently page source is not among the options. That's interesting.
