i cannot edit anything, or publish anything, all i get is this error message "the ajax request failed" how do i fix this?

For quite some time (potentially years - not quite sure, just came back to Wikidot), my activity feed has been broken. I receive no emails on watched pages. Indeed, I am entirely unable to access the activity section - the only thing it says is "Due to database overload, the activities panel is temporarily disabled."

Is this part of some crazy marketing you guys are doing or what?
