GALLERY Multi-Photo Syntax has no lightbox

The [[gallery]] multi-line syntax (which utilises multiple photos) doesn't use the lightbox viewer when you use full URLs as the image source. For example:

[[gallery]]
: http://css3.wikidot.com/local--files/blog:showcase-css3-image-gallery/clouds.jpg
: http://css3.wikidot.com/local--files/blog:showcase-css3-image-gallery/giraffe.jpg
: http://css3.wikidot.com/local--files/blog:showcase-css3-image-gallery/street.jpg
: http://css3.wikidot.com/local--files/blog:showcase-css3-image-gallery/cobweb.jpg
[[/gallery]]

Will generate the following (note that when you click on each photo, the lightbox viewer does not appear):
