I work with a private wikidot site ( newsa.wikidot.com ) which we use intensively for a few months every 18 months to review abstracts and plan an academic conference.
I have had my wikidot account set to watch http://newsa.wikidot.com/newestpages , and I can confirm that this is supposed to be active at http://www.wikidot.com/account/activity#/watching .
But….since the start of this month, a colleague has added about 20 pages to the site. These are all visible at http://newsa.wikidot.com/newestpages/ but neither I nor she have received the email notifications that the page has been changed.
The ability to watch pages for new abstracts / comments has been essential to our successful use of wikidot as a collaborative tool since 2008. Sometime between January 2010 (the last time I received an email from moc.todikiw|gnihctaw#moc.todikiw|gnihctaw) and now this has stopped working.
BTW my email is configured to bypass spam screening for emails from moc.todikiw|gnihctaw#moc.todikiw|gnihctaw , and this always worked in the past, so I am quite certain the problem is not with receiving sent emails.
Also, even though I am watching *this* page, I didn't receive a notification after I posted the above comment.
And….none of these are showing up in https://www.wikidot.com/account/activity#/all
You shouldn't receive emails or see notifications in the Activity tab for your own edits and comments.
But it is strange that the 20 edits from your colleague didn't trigger notifications.

This is partially true. There is an option to enable notifications for your own forum posts and per-page comments on https://www.wikidot.com/account/activity#/watching
I have that option enabled and I do get notifications. The only thing I don't get notified on is when I create new or edit existing pages.
If Derick has this option enabled, he should receive a notification when he posted his 3 comments.

From what you are describing, it sounds like you are just watching a single page on your site, not the whole site. If that is true and http://newsa.wikidot.com/newestpages/ is a page that has a ListPages module on it to list the other pages created, you will not get notifications since the source of the single page is likely not changing.
I suggest that you watch the whole site or at least the category that the new pages are being created in and see if that makes a difference.
Since your site is private, this is just my best guess at what might be happening.

What Ed Johnson explained thoroughly is entirely true. I took a look at this page and there is a Pages module with appropriate parameters. If you have a ListPages on a page and the content in the ListPages itself changes, you won't receive any notification, because neither the source of this page changes nor any comment appears to this page.
If you want to watch the whole site, please click "Start watching: site newsa.wikidot.com" which I have actually did for you. You should receive a notification about every page edit and every comment on your Site. I believe that this is the behaviour you wanted to see in your activity tab.
And as it's not a bug, I'm rejecting this.
Thanks very much. I need to get my colleague to post something new to double-check but it seems that watching the whole site will solve the issue. (I have been receiving the notifications for this discussion).
