The Join module does not automatically make a user a member of the wiki when they sign up through Facebook connect.
To join, they have to click the Join button a second time (after the Wikidot account is created).
This does not follow Join module documentation, and could confuse users. Regular sign-ups with Wikidot will auto-join the wiki. It's just the FB ones that don't.
EDIT: Other problem is that the page will often get stuck after signup, breaking the redirect back to the original wiki site.
Hahaha!
Thanks, we will be working on it today!

This behavior happened for me as well, even with the regular email address registration method.
I remember pressing the Join button and entering my info, and then when I went back to the wiki as a Wikidot user, I still had to hit the join button to actually become a member.
This was myself signing up, (a second account for testing these very sorts of things), and again, I'm certain that I signed-up by entering my email address. (In fact, I found this behavior odd, and was planning on informing future users so they wouldn't be confused, by registering but never actually joining)
@cold_blood3d, @Venryx: could you tell us which sites exhibit such behavior? It would help us a lot.

I went back and tried it again, and I found at that it had indeed added me as a member, I just wasn't automatically logged in after registering, so I thought it didn't add me because the Join button still showed up.
hi. this has presented itself on http://scmapdb.com
We have created new users on http://scmapdb.com using Facebook accounts and they automatically became members of the site. Any clues?

The only time it auto-joined was if an existing account was already logged into Wikidot. Even if they were an existing Wikidot user (signed up through FB), I don't believe the join button provided a 1-click join.
It gets stuck loading after login "Please wait…" until I manually typed in the website address again. This has happened to me before. The account did become a member though. But I would like it if this delay and need to reload the main page didn't happen.
A friend of mine had this happen with regular registration. (I think anyway, he might have used his Facebook account)
He entered all of the information and pressed Sign Up, but then it sat there for ten minutes saying "Please wait". So then I told him to reload, and then it worked when he tried registering again.
hopefully this isn't too widespread. users who really need to use a wiki will retry, but i hate to think of all the potential new site members who just give up because they don't know/can't be bothered to re-type the url in the address bar.
Perhaps Ed's tip can help?

interesting. that's actually pretty cool that you can link directly to the login page. this could almost be used to make a login button. only issue Ed noted is "after login, it redirects to a "please wait" page and sits there."
We have deployed a fix that should solve the problem with signing in with Facebook. Please tell us if it works for you.
