It works just fine here. Does this bug appear to you on many pages, or just this one?
We suspect you may unconsciously use some kind of web-proxy your ISP has set up for their users. If this is the case, using https (which CAN'T be handled by any transparent proxy) would work for you, while http would sometimes fail. If things works great when over https, please see if they work good by using our proxy as explained under this bug.
Please report any progress on this.

It was occurring for only that page, but is working fine again now.
It was revision number 13 (just before your edit). You can clearly see the change if you compare changes between revisions 12 and 13, but when viewing the source code it was not changed (and pages that use the live template were still using revision 12's code after a recompile).
As I said, all working fine again now. But there was definitely something not quite right earlier.

It's occurring again.
Page source = revision 15.
Though if you look in the history you can clearly see that I edited it up to revision 16.
Edit: And can confirm that it is only this page.

Here, proof that there is a problem:
Actually, ignore this. What I was saying is incorrect. The history appears to be correct.

I think I fixed this. Indeed for some reason the page was grabbed from cached before commiting it to database (which resulted in using the old version). Please verify if it works now and revert to the appropriate revision.

Actually, it's broken again :-(

OK, now it seems working finally. Also I made small change in the logic of recompiling the template, so it takes less time to save it.

Thanks! :) Will let you know here if that page gives me any trouble again (or any other pages, for that matter).
I've noticed that sometimes pages take a while to save - I just assumed that Wikidot was under heavy load during those times or my Internet was going a bit slow. Thanks again.

Actually, sorry, it's doing it again :S Same page.
Edit: Strangely… I think the template seems like it might have rendered correctly as I changed the ListPages module to only show 1 link before and after instead of 2 - and the live template changed to show less links as I wanted it to. Yet the source code still shows the second-last revision, and pages that use the template still seem to be picking up the second-last revision even after several recompilations.
Hopefully, knowing that helps you to find the cause of this issue?

Related problem :(
I renamed the page game:_template to game:_template-old.
BUT
Both pages seemed to exist (it copied it instead)… so when I attempted to then delete game:_template-old, it popped up with the "Please try again" message and the random BSOD image from Flickr.
http://cyclods.wikidot.com/game:_template-old
Every time I refresh that page I get the "Please try again" error message.
However, any other page works fine, including http://cyclods.wikidot.com/game:_template
:S
Something really strange is going on here.

LOL, and now, after renaming the page at http://cyclods.wikidot.com/game:_template
I go to the history and it actually shows the revision for renaming the page… with comment You successfully renamed the page: "game:_template" to "game:_template-old".
So it has renamed the page… but somehow it's refusing to accept that and is still using the second-last revision (at which point the page wasn't renamed). So it seems.
I try to view compare versions on the page, and get this error message:
Error
Please note:
Error selecting revisions: please contact Wikidot.com for a better error message
:P
No joke!

Another update: Now neither http://cyclods.wikidot.com/game:_template nor http://cyclods.wikidot.com/game:_template-old exist - so I'm not getting the "Please try again" message… instead I'm getting the default 'page doesn't (yet!) exist.'
I will re-create the page now.
Edit: Maybe you deleted the page? I noticed you just posted another comment below.

Let me recreate the _template again, to see if we can still reproduce this bug.

Yeap, still happening. It must be something on your site, that triggers the bug and the bug is something tries to read the page while it is in a process of saving (it's saved, but not yet committed, in which case older version is read from database and put back to cache, so that after save is complete the previous version is used). It explains why it's always the "-1" version that is shown as "current".

The page has just updated to start using the correct source code now. Something you did, or it's fixed itself?
Edit: Broken again. ;-)

Interestingly, I also see no edit date there.
Should be up to revision 6 but it says this:
-1 revision, as expected. But also no updated_at date/time listed.

This was happening to me a couple of days ago over at http://themes.wikidot.com - I would save this page, but the changes would not update in the code block. Once I removed the tweet button snippet everything seemed to work okay. I'm not sure if it's related or not, but figured it might be worth letting you know.

Since the page has been deleted and re-created it now only contains a comment and %%content%%, so I don't think it is anything to do with a HTML code block / iframe, etc. :(
I just tried editing your page on the themes site and it looks like that one is working fine now, as you said. Showed the latest update immediately.

The problem can be related though. For both cases code needs to read the source code. And if the page is accessed somehow "in the middle" of saving it can cache the wrong version and not use the newest one.

OK, I think it might be the recompilation in the background that triggers the bug:
To confirm this, I'm trying this:
this should work without a problem if my theory is valid

Okay, hopefully it works. I have a back up of the page's previous source code so I can easily put that back in there once the problem has been identified.
Edit: It might also be important to note that there are currently 5204 pages in that category ;-) So it might take a while for all to recompile…
