An error is reported when trying to upload files using OS X.
I am using OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
I tried using Firefox and Safari browsers and both failed with the same error.
The size and type of the file makes no difference either.
The error encountered is :
File upload
Current site storage size: 0 Bytes used of total 1 GB, 1 GB still free
Max upload size: 50 MB
File name Size [KB] Upload status
splash.jpg 127
Waiting…Error uploading file.
Reverting to the 'old file uploader' does work.
Brendan.
I have been using OSX Snow Leopard since the day it was released in Australia (which just so happens to be a few hours before America, for a change)
The multi-file uploader worked perfectly before I upgraded (when I was using OSX 10.5), and after I upgraded (when I was using OSX 10.6) in both FireFox and Safari (versions 3 and 4).
I even used the multi file uploader yesterday, with success.
This is not a Wikidot bug, this is a subjective error — there is something wrong at your end, not ours.
Next time report your problem to the community, and we will try to help you fix it… we will suggest things such as:
Actually, I've had this problem before (though I use a PC, others used Macs and had the same problem). The problem with me was the network not allowing it to function, though ye old uploader seems like the master access to uploading files. Perhaps you are under a restrictive proxy, or else any of James's four options are considerable.

Yes, exactly. When I'm at University the multi-file uploader is useless, and I need to revert to the old one. Any themes taken from a page (e.g. admin:themes) also fail to appear after I've cleared my cache - but begin working again when I get home and use the same notebook computer on the different network.

The problem is probably in the network settings then — nothing to do with the OS. Perhaps resubmit the bug with correct details?
I still think it can be classed as a bug if you get a generic error message "error uploading file". It doesn't tell you much, and doesn't hint at what could be the problem. If the new uploader requires a certain version of flash, web browser, etc, or certain network settings to work correctly, then the error message should report that so the user can check these for themselves without going to the community. File upload should be a straight forward thing and works with so many other web based applications, so it shouldn't be such a task to do the same thing for wikidot either :)
Yes, exactly. There is no justification for this just failing. But this and a bunch of other problems are related, and I'm going to create a new bug report that covers them all.
